NASA has revealed that it is building a nuclear-powered rocket that could send humans to Mars much faster than conventional rockets.

The nuclear-powered rocket NASA is working on offers a power-to-weight ratio 10,000 times greater than that of electric propulsion.

To design DRACO, its team plans to use the NTR (Nuclear Thermal Rocket) model, as well as give a modern touch to the model.

The NTR model is about 50 years old, NASA has studied nuclear thermal propulsion for many decades.
