NASA launched the Voyager 2 spacecraft 45 years ago i.e. on 20 August 1977.
NASA longest mission Voyager 2
This spacecraft has been flying for 45 years. It has traveled a lot and is still flying in space and providing us information.
The information sent by it takes 16.5 hours to reach the Earth. It is estimated that it will fly for the next 3 years
and will keep sending us information.NASA's Voyager 2 is the second manned spacecraft to reach the far reaches of the solar system.
Voyager 2 was launched before Voyager 1. Voyager 2 was launched on August 1977, while Voyager 1 was launched on 5 September 1977.
Voyager 2 is the only mission to have visited and provided information about the four major planets –
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Not only this, Voyager 2 has provided NASA with information about 16 satellites of this planet.
According to NASA information, Voyager 2 is currently 18 billion km away from Earth. The probe crossed the edge of the heliosphere on November 5.
The heliosphere is where the hot solar wind meets the cold and dense interstellar medium. There will be more progress in the investigation in future
